I am a physician who has had a rewarding career in academic medicine. Over time, with increasing leadership roles, I moved away from direct patient care. Missing regular opportunities to partner and contribute to individuals’ health and wellbeing, I became an executive coach. I am passionate about coaching physicians across all stages of their professional trajectory, particularly those in academic medicine, supporting them individually to thrive and collectively to create and sustain a culture dedicated to mutual growth and wellness.
Why do I coach?
I envision a healthcare system in which a commitment to health and wellness is embedded in the journey for healthcare professionals, institutions, and society as a whole. These are challenging times, replete with mountains and shifting sands, hurdles, transitions, quandaries, and notwithstanding the challenges, beckoning opportunities. Sometimes the way forward is not so clear. I coach to support healthcare professionals navigate the complexities in their various spheres and fulfil their personal and professional goals. I truly believe that together we can create the caring health system we all deserve.
Why the name Aurealis Global Leadership Coaching?
A 2017 trip to Whitehorse, Yukon to see the Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis surprised me. Instead of seeing a vibrant colourful sky I saw only a black sky with swirling grey mist and cloud. My disappointment was soon tempered by one look through a camera affixed to a tripod, set with the aperture and shutter speed needed to see the beauty of the aurora. Ah such awe! As I contemplated the name for my coaching practice, I recalled this moment. Coaching helps surface our inner swirls and tides whose presence or meaning may be beyond current awareness. A coach helps us see them; once seen we can work to modify their impact on us. The name Aurealis Global Leadership Coaching captures the magic of Aurora borealis. It acknowledges the personal enlightenment and transformation that can occur through coaching.
